Structure of the Kogi State Judicial Service Commission (JSC)
The Kogi State Judicial Service Commission operates under a well-organized administrative and functional structure designed to uphold judicial independence, accountability, and service delivery across all levels of the state’s judiciary. The Commission’s structure is built to ensure seamless coordination between policy, administration, finance, and performance monitoring, all in alignment with constitutional and operational mandates.
Secretariat Of The Commission
Part Il,Regulation 4 of the Kogi State Judicial Service Commission Regulations 2012, made pursuant to Section 204 (1) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, makes provision for the appointment of a secretary to the Commission, who shall be appointed by the Commission on recommendation of the Chief Judge. In addition to his functions as prescribed in these Regulations, he shall have such other functions of an administrative nature, as may from time to time be assigned to him by the Commission or the Chairman.The Secretary who is designated as the Administrative Head and the Chief Accounting Officer of the Commission performs the statutory duties of the office in conjunction with number of personnel at the Commission. The Secretariat is required to:-
a. Provide secretariat and administrative support to the Commission;
b. Cause all records of matters dealt with by the Commission to be safeguarded;
C. Maintain a register of all complaints dealt with by the Committees;
d. Perform such secretarial and administrative tasks related to the work of the Commission or Committees as may from time to time be assigned by the Chairman of the Commission.
The Commission has five functional Directorates which are manned by Deputy Chief Registrars, Directors and Deputy Directors, in addition to the office of the Secretary. The Directorates under the Commission are:-
i. Directorate of Personnel Management;
ii. Directorate of Finance and Supplies;
iii.Directorate of Planning,Research and Statistics;
iv. Directorate of Information and Protocol;
v. Directorate of Special Duties.
The Secretary of the Commission is Dr Mohammed Tanko. In the discharge of his statutory duties, the Secretary is assisted by management staff which includes; the Deputy Chief Registrars, Directors,Deputy Directors,Sectional Heads and the retinue of staff in the Commission. The Commission’s staff disposition list as at 31″ December, 2024 is attached as Annexure ‘A’.
