Established in 1991, the Kogi State High Court of Justice is the apex judicial authority in the state, empowered by Sections 270(1) and 272(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
From just four divisions at inception, the Court has grown to 23 judicial divisions, more than 200 subordinate courts, and 9 zonal inspectorate offices spread across Kogi State.
As the highest trial court in the state, the High Court delivers fair, transparent, and accessible justice, while safeguarding citizens’ rights and preserving the rule of law.
Hon. Justice Josiah Joe Majebi was confirmed as the Chief Judge of Kogi State in March 2023, bringing decades of judicial service and leadership experience. Since taking office, he has introduced far-reaching reforms that emphasize accountability, transparency, and modernization. His administration has cleared inherited debts, created new directorates for efficiency, and expanded judicial access through more divisions and upgraded infrastructure across the state.
Under his leadership, the High Court has recorded landmark rulings that safeguard public interest and strengthen confidence in the judiciary. Justice Majebi remains committed to building a fair, accessible, and people-focused judicial system that upholds the rule of law and delivers justice without fear or favour.
