
The Kogi State legal community and the nation at large mourn the loss of a distinguished jurist, Hon. Justice Samuel Kehinde Otta (Rtd.), who passed away on March 7th, 2026, at the age of 81.
A pioneer in every sense, Justice Otta’s impact on the Kogi State Judiciary cannot be overstated. As the Pioneer President of the Customary Court of Appeal and a Former Acting Chief Judge, his career was defined by an unwavering commitment to fairness, the rule of law, and the mentorship of countless legal professionals.
Beyond the bench, he was a devoted family man, an elder in his faith, and a pillar of the Lokoja community. As we prepare to bid him a final farewell, we reflect on a life dedicated to service and integrity.

A formal judicial tribute to honour his contributions to the bench.

A reception for guests will follow the burial service immediately.

A Life Well Lived
Justice Otta is survived by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and a large community of relatives and friends who continue to carry his legacy forward.
