The Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal is a superior court of record established to ensure the fair and efficient administration of justice in matters governed by customary law. We exercise appellate and supervisory jurisdiction in civil proceedings that raise questions of customary law. Our mandate covers a broad spectrum of disputes, including inheritance, land ownership and boundaries, marriage arrangements, family relations, and other matters that are governed by the rich and diverse customs and traditions of Kogi State.<\/p>

Through our work, we ensure that the application of justice is both fair and culturally sensitive, recognizing that the principles of customary law are deeply rooted in the history and social fabric of our communities.     The Court is led by the Honourable President, currently Hon. Justice Siyaka Momoh-Jimoh Usman, who provides visionary leadership and guidance in all judicial matters. She is supported by a team of seven (7) experienced Judges, each bringing specialized knowledge and a deep understanding of customary law. Together with a cadre of dedicated administrative staff, they work tirelessly to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Court.<\/p>

    This leadership team upholds the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and impartiality, ensuring that every case is handled fairly and in accordance with the principles of justice.     With its headquarters in Lokoja, the Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal functions through seven (7) strategically located divisions in Ankpa, Anyigba, Okene, Idah, Obangede, Kabba, and Isanlu. These divisions have been established to ensure that the administration of justice is accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location within the state. By decentralizing the Court\u2019s operations, these divisions reduce geographical barriers, minimize travel and delays for litigants, and provide timely resolution of disputes.<\/p>
